Privacy policy

ComeToSalah helps you find nearby masjids, see their Jamaat times, get salah alarms and receive announcements from your masjid. ComeToSalah Admin lets masjid administrators publish that information. This policy explains what data the two apps use and why. Contact: support@cometosalah.org.

What we collect and why

• Google account (name, email, account ID) – to sign you in and keep your masjid subscription when you change phones.
• Location – used on your phone to find masjids near you, calculate prayer times and show the Qibla direction. We use it to look up nearby masjids but do not store your location on our servers. A rounded location (about 1 km) is kept on your phone only, so prayer-time alarms can be planned.
• Your chosen masjid – stored on our servers with your account so we can restore it and show the masjid how many people follow it. Masjid admins see only the total number, never who you are.
• Settings and reminders – alarm choices, reminders and your calculation method are stored on your phone only.
• Notifications – we send masjid updates through Firebase Cloud Messaging to everyone following that masjid. This does not require us to store any personal data.
• Donations – donating opens your own UPI app (e.g. GPay, PhonePe). The payment happens there, directly to the masjid. We never see or store payment details.

Masjid administrators (ComeToSalah Admin)

• Phone number or Gmail address – to sign in and confirm you manage a registered masjid.
• Information you publish – prayer timings, events, notices, facilities and the masjid's UPI ID are shown to app users.
• Photos of timing boards – if you use "Scan timings board", the photo is sent to Google's AI service (Vertex AI) to read the times. It is processed only for that purpose and not stored by us.

Who processes the data

We use Google Firebase (Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Cloud Functions, Cloud Messaging) and Google Cloud Vertex AI. Data is stored in Google's Mumbai (asia-south1) region. We do not sell data, show ads or use advertising or analytics trackers.

Keeping and deleting your data

We keep your account data until you delete it. You can delete your account at any time in the app (Settings → Delete my account) or by emailing us – see how to delete your account. Deleting removes your account, your masjid subscription record and your saved masjid from our servers.

Children

The apps are not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data.

If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date above.
